Old School Snarf

Description

It doesn't get much more Old School than this.

This is a scan of the inside front page of my AD&D Dungeon Masters Guide from 1979. When I was 13, I attended the GenCon gaming convention, which was *the* Con to go to back then. While there, I met some of the great D&D artists of the day.

I got their autographs, and while talking to Keith Parkinson, we were discussing Snarfquest, an awesome and hilareous comic that was published in Dragon Magazine. It was done by the legendary Larry Elmore, who was at the artists' table at the time.

Keith Parkinson took my DMG, turns around to Larry Elmore and says, "Hey, Larry. This kid loves Snarf. Do 'im a Snarf."

So Larry Elmore did, drawing an original Snarf in *my* DMG. I nearly freaking died with excitement. There I was, 13 years old, and my D&D art hero draws my favourite character in *my* book. I have treasured it ever since, and now I share that page with you.

Holy Cow. Holy, holy, holy cow. Much Envy (as much for the Tramp signature as for the Snarf -- too bad you didn't get a little Wormy, too).
