Farewell Goblin King

The legendary David Bowie has passed away at the age of 69 after losing a battle with cancer.

I just found out, and I am in deep shock. David Bowie wasn't only a rock god, but the first rock artist I was ever exposed to at the age of 11. From that moment on I was a huge fan. When he was part of Tin Machine, he came to Montreal for a concert and of course I went to see him. It was in this tiny venue called The Brick. I was less than 10 feet from the stage ~ and since this was Montreal, no fences or bodyguards or anything. It being Bowie, there were all sorts of odd items on the small stage, included a TV sitting on a stool. It was playing some weirdness (hey, Bowie). When he and the band came on stage, Bowie reached down and switched off the TV. He glanced over, looked *me* right in the eyes, and gave me an amazing David Bowie smile.

My rock god had smiled at me. I will never forget that feeling.
